SoundHound, a tech firm with specializations in AI and voice-recognition technology solutions, has announced it is expanding its drive-thru ordering partnership with White Castle, according to a press release.
The deal will expand the use of SoundHound’s AI technology to 100 American locations of White Castle by the end of 2024, including a number of 24/7 locations.
Unlike trending approaches to the technology, SoundHound AI eliminates “human-in-the-loop” strategies by using end-to-end AI technology, with no human assistance. The approach aims to enhance speed in applications from drive-thru, kiosk and phone customer service to additional use cases.
The partners announced these milestones after completing the pilot phase of their partnership:
- 90% order completion rates that exceed previous staff-based benchmarks.
- Average order taken and processed in just over 60 seconds.
- Consistent, reliable, and “always on” performance.
- Scalable and repeatable infrastructure.
“White Castle is committed to investing in the best available technology to create welcoming and enjoyable drive-thru experiences for our customers,” Mike Guinan, VP of Operations Services at White Castle, said in the release. “Our partnership with SoundHound has allowed us to be first movers in this space and we’re excited to do even more to satisfy cravers everywhere. Working together, we’ll be able to deliver the drive-thru experience of tomorrow today.”
“Together, White Castle and SoundHound are uniting great food and great technology to give quick service restaurant customers the most advanced ordering experience available today,” Keyvan Mohajer, co-founder and CEO at SoundHound, said in the release. “We know that AI is going to be a keystone of the restaurant of the future, and we’re delighted to take another step towards that by bringing our deep AI knowledge to even more locations.”
