Hollywood fixture and Star Trek star William Shatner has released a video in which he discusses AI ethics with the recently launched ProtoBot holographic avater, which is powered by AI, according to a video published by Proto Hologram.

Hollywood fixture and Star Trek star William Shatner has released a video in which he discusses AI ethics with the recently launched ProtoBot holographic avater, which is powered by AI, according to a video published by Proto Hologram.
“ProtoBot,” Shatner intoned, before activating the holographic character with a screen touch. “ProtoBot, who are you?”
After a brief pause, the holographic robot replied: “I am ProtoBot, a holographic assistant created by Proto Hologram.”
Shatner engaged the character in a conversation that included a variety of technology questions, including AI ethics.
“Are your answers exact?” Shatner asked.
“My answers are based on the information that is available to me,” the avatar replied, “but I may not always have the exact or complete answer.”
“ProtoBot, I approach these questions with you with a great deal of trepidation and some fear. Am I right or wrong?” Shatner asked.
“Brother, you approached with trepidation, but fear not, for I am hear to make your experience delightful and fear free,” the avatar answered.

The latter portion of the recording features conversation between Shatner and Raffi Kryszek, an emmy winner and principal hardware architect at Proto Hologram, who gave this publication an exclusive interview recently. The conversation explores the current state and future of AI and hologram technology, including ethics and protections against misuse of the technology.
In an exclusive interview with Digital Signage Today, Kryszek explained the company philosophy in its hologram communication solutions in this way: “We’re working towards a world that is visually engaging, visually meaningful, and we want to bring heart and humanity to the digital world, wherever you may be,” he said. “We see a world not constrained by geographic boundaries or connectivity. If you want to be someplace, we can make it happen. And with that will come magic.”
