On September 30, actor Tyler Christopher (“General Hospital” and “Days of Our Lives”) chatted at Cre8ive Studios in New York City.
Hosting a fan event in New York
An Emmy award-winning actor, Christopher participated in his own fan event, which was hosted by CaliBx Experience. “I haven’t been in New York since 2018,” he admitted. “I am only here for 48 hours and I am going to enjoy that time.”

He is one of three men to ever win the “Lead Actor” Emmy Award for “General Hospital” along with Maurice Benard and Anthony Geary. “Winning that Emmy was a good year for me,” Christopher recalled.
Christopher continued, “I thanked everyone in my acceptance speech, especially the people that took me under their wing and mentored me from the very start… I singed out each one of them. These included Anthony Geary, Genie Francis, Stephen Nichols, and Jonathan Jackson, who was very young at the time. I used to spend a lot of time with Jonathan Jackson and his family, which was ironic and unique because I was so much older.”
“The day I actually filmed those Emmy reel scenes in the studio was so hard, emotionally… they dealt with my on-screen son dying in the hospital. As an actor, I had to make a decision how I was going to execute them, it was all about not holding back,” he said.
“I didn’t hold back, and that paid off in the end,” he added.
Thoughts on AI on the future of the entertainment business
On AI on the future of entertainment business, he said, “I have to be honest, I don’t know very much about it. I know I should because I’m an actor. I haven’t been following it. If it interferes with production, I hope it doesn’t happen.”
“I have been doing this for 30 years, I got in ‘General Hospital’ back in 1996, so it coming up on 30 years. I like the way things used to be done. I’m very old school. That’s how I learned, that’s how things used to be done. It is difficult for me to go out of the normal,” he elaborated.
“When I first started, everything was shot on film using one camera. Now, everything is digital and moving around. Mics are placed on you and you are boomed,” he said.
“I like the way things used to be before AI,” he acknowledged.
Favorite mottos to live by
On his favorite mottos to live by, he shared, “Don’t Hold Back.” “That’s how I approach my work and when I am doing scenes, especially when they are difficult to perform. I trust my instincts, I don’t hold back and that gets me through it. This allows me to take chances in my scenes,” he said.
Doing Maurice Benard’s MB ‘State of Mind’ podcast
Christopher shared that he enjoyed being a part of Maurice Benard’s MB “State of Mind” podcast, because that episode was able to impact countless lives, especially in regard to mental health. “I was honored that Maurice asked me to do it,” he said.
“For Maurice, it is very personal and he takes it very seriously. When you go on there, you have to be truthful or you are going to look foolish. I decided to be very honest, truthful, transparent, and very real. I would love to someday do a follow-up.”
Stage of his life
On the title of the current chapter of his life, he remarked, “Waiting for the Next Project.” “I’m not on daytime anymore, so I don’t work every day,” he said. “I am in a new chapter in my life.”
Success
Christopher defined the word success as “going to work every day and making sure that you realize how grateful you are.”
Fans
For his dedicated fans, he concluded, “I am so grateful to have gone on this journey with the fans. At the end of the day, the show and the work, is not about you… it is about the fans… You perform for the fans, not yourself.”
