Blue Diamond, a Tennessee-based manufacturer of tractor attachments, has partnered with Red Dot Digital Media, a specialty digital signage integrator, and Red Dot partner spinTouch, to develop a self-service solution for merchandising tractor attachments, according to a press release and case study.

The kiosks allow customers to search and filter the product catalog and provide product videos along with QR code interactivity such as calling the Blue Diamond support line or downloading product specification sheets to their mobile device.

Hardware

CrimsonAV 49-inch All-In-One kiosks with touchscreen were installed, with units including a 49-inch digital touch-interactive screen attached to a BrightSign XT1144 media player. Due to variable internet connection issues across retail locations, kiosks leverage BrightSign Mobile, which provides cellular Internet connectivity, along with Wi-Fi and hardwired connection options for systems redundancy.

Software

The CMS software solution was built by Red Dot and includes a custom script that scans the Blue Diamond website for relevant product data for the kiosk, automating a previously labor-intensive data process for staff.

Kiosks can also be customized to show or hide products based on regional availability.

“Red Dot was the ideal partner to tame the complexities of this project and deliver an interactive kiosk that gives Blue Diamond the ultimate flexibility in how their retailers attach kiosks to their respective networks,” Paul Hashemi, founder and CTO of spinTouch, said in the release. “Thanks to Red Dot’s expertise working within the BrightSign ecosystem, the kiosks can be hardwired into the network, connected wirelessly via WiFi or even connected via cellular using the BrightSign Mobile solution. Offering this trio of network connectivity options gives retailers the utmost flexibility in where they place kiosks, ensuring they fit seamlessly into the layout of the stores, and deliver the most informative value to customers as well as store personnel.”
