Lolita Milena is an actress, author, and activist. She chatted about her latest endeavors.

Daily inspirations

On her daily inspirations as an actor, author, and activist, she said, “I have a different answer for the three categories due to them being different ‘islands’ of my life.”

“As an actor, I am heavily inspired by ’80s and ’90s cinema and actors of what I’d consider golden ages. I love films that make me think weeks after I viewed it, and actors who truly made me feel as they perform,” she explained.

Milena continued, “My stories on the page come from my dreams, really. When I sleep the stories flow like a movie with a beginning, climax, and end. I’m very lucky in that regard, helps me avoid writers block nine out of 10 times.”

“My activism, as I’ve been told, is held in a realistic fashion,” she said. “I’m someone who was raised with the mentality of: find the solution in this able bodied world for yourself, and if you just can’t, move on. I believe it really helped me adapt early in life as a wheelchair user since I was only a toddler and make the world I live in easier.”

“When I speak about being paralyzed, I try to not draw attentions to the negatives, nor make it out to always be an ‘inspirational’ journey I tread. I’m just living life as you do with some alterations that people find interesting to see,” she added.

The digital age

On being a part of the digital age, she said, “It reminds me of the Wild West. There is something new around each corner, or there is a new development we as a casual audience did not realize could be done.”

“While it is fascinating at its rapid evolution, it can be scary in regards to work and advancements for the every day user,” she added.

Future plans

Regarding her future plans, she said, “I’m always planning. The plans are the least of one’s worries. The main question; how to push the plans to fruition. That is where my gears get turning, how to get the plans off the page.”

Career-defining moments

On her career-defining moments, she said, “When I was a little girl on stage for the first time around age six. When the dreaded stage fright never showed its face in my mind, I think was when I realized the creative arts world was where I found true happiness.”

Advice for hopefuls

For hopefuls that wish to go into entertainment or activism, she said, “All advice is good advice however, it won’t always be applicable to your unique situation. So, be stubborn if you have that confidence in what it is you stand for, or create.”

On her definition of the word success, she responded, “Making little ‘me’ proud.”

For her fans and supporters, Milena said, “Thank you for putting up with me, honestly. I’m so grateful for the community that had been around through the highest moments in my social media journey, and when I felt so low.”
