Sony Electronics has announced a range of updates for its ELF-SR2 and ELF-SR1 Spatial Reality Display systems, which display 3D information without the need for glasses or other wearables, according to a press release.

The launch includes an updated version of the displays’ Spatial Reality Display Plugin for Preview software, which aims to enhance compatibility with digital content creation tools (a.k.a. DCC), including upgraded assessment of intricate curves, complex structures, and animations. The software update includes tools that specifically target Autodesk Maya, including real time design review, enhanced control methods (including keyboards, gamepads, Playstation DUALSHOCK 4 and DualSense controllers, among others), along with direct display of Maya scenes. In addition to Autodesk Maya, the plugin offers different versions to support Autodesk 3dsMax, ZBrush, and Blender.

Sony also announced the launch of its Spatial Reality Display Player version 1.1, an application for displaying 3DCG models, including model background setting options, demo function, and background music functionality.

Sony has released its Software Development Kit 2.3.0, in which it has added compatibility with OpenXR (OpenGL and DirectX12), expanding DirectX11 support, which aims to increase flexibility for developers.

The Spatial Reality Display ecosystem now supports 3D Viewer for Sketchfab, a viewer application that allows displaying data uploaded to Sketchfab, a platform for displaying 3D content.
