Minute Maid Park, home of the Houston Astros, has unveiled a dual-sided halo display by Watchfire in the Team Store merchandise shop, according to a press release.

“Watchfire collaborated with an exceptional team of partners to bring the display to life,” Kyle Dines, VP of sports and indoor at Watchfire, said in the release. “I’m not aware of anything like this in any other major league ballpark. It’s a showstopper.”

The sign measures five feet in height and 29 feet in width from ellipse to ellipse, with inner and outer rings constructed with Watchfire S-Series 2.4mm LED display technology.

“When you pair best-in-class hardware with engaging content you create an experience that truly takes the retail environment to a new level,” Misty Chalk, vice president of sales, North America, at BrightSign, said in the release.

The installation involved partnership between several groups, including the Astros management team, BrightSign, Watchfire’s service and engineering departments, Wallboard, Datapath and Humble Sign Company.

The custom display’s content includes live game feeds, social media posts and video content, leveraging two BrightSign XT1144 players, which support 4K and OTC broadcast capabilities, along with Texas-based Wallboard’s CMS software platform.

“This project was a natural fit for us based on Wallboard’s capabilities to adapt to the unique requirements of this project combined with the Astros’ comfort level with using a CMS that they already knew,” Rod Roberson, CEO at Wallboard, said in the release. “By collaborating with the other partners, we were able to expand our capabilities and the result is a unique and dynamic display.”

Pennsylvania-based Datapath provided its Datapath VSNMicro 600-RPSU system for content zone control and overlay.
