Sony has unveiled its Verona family of Crystal LED displays, including four models, according to a press release.
Designed to provide true black while reducing reflections, the line is purpose-built for virtual production applications, helping to debut recently developed technologies including Sony’s Deep Black and Anti-Reflection Surface Technology to help with unique lighting environments on film sets and in virtual production studios.
The product family includes brightness rated at 1,500 cd/m2 along with color gamut rated at more than 97% of DCI-P3, along with high-performance LED drivers with refresh rates of up to7,680Hz to reduce on-camera scanline artifacts.
The product launch includes two models, the ZRD-VP15EB/23EB and ZRD-VP15EM/23EM, each of which are available in P1.56-mm and P2.31-mm pixel pitches.
Sony also collaborated with industry leaders to develop a customized 1:1 cabinet design for ease of installation in virtual production sets.
“As virtual production expands, Sony is uniquely positioned to provide an ecosystem of solutions – from our VENICE digital cinema cameras and Crystal LED displays – to the workflows, and expertise creatives require,” Kevin O’Connor, senior director for cinematic production solutions at Sony Electronics. “The new purpose-built Crystal LED VERONA displays are a critical piece in creating virtual productions that frictionlessly marry the real and the virtual realms. Through the support of some of the most innovative filmmakers, we’ve developed a new high-quality technology that is poised to simplify and enhance virtual production through its ease of use and compatibility while enabling powerful new forms of expression.”
