SOS, a smart wellness products vending machine company, has received $7.6 million in investment funding, according to a press release.

A $2.6 million investment round was supported by Wasserman Ventures, and a $5 million round was supported by Urban Us Capital. SOS also named Thayer Lavielle, EVP of The Collective (Wasserman’s woman-focused practice) to the SOS board of directors.

“Aligning with Wasserman provides us the opportunity to work alongside a global partner who can help us open doors, shape our consumer narrative and scale our business to provide our wellness service and products to millions of fans and consumers,” Susanna Twarog, co-founder and co-CEO at SOS, said in the release. “With this investment and Thayer on our board, we’re primed to grow our network, better serve our brand partners and change the on-the-go wellness game as the world knows it.”

“SOS’s mission to elevate the needs of consumers — particularly women — through innovative technology is unique, filling a void in a fan’s experience at a venue while providing surprise and delightment,” Lavielle said in the release. “I am thrilled to join the board and work alongside two female founders who have had the vision to create a world where it is easier for anyone and everyone to live well.”

Founded in 2020 by Wall Street alumnae Robina Verbeek and Susanna Twarog, SOS smart vending machines provide personal care and wellness products, including period care items, for on-the-go consumers, with products from brands including Rael (the exclusive period care partner for SOS), Hero Cosmetics and Luxury Brand Partners. The screens double as DOOH platforms for targeted, interactive advertising and educational content.

More than 100 machines are currently in operation, with locations across New York City and Boston including Rockefeller Center and Fenway Park. SOS aims to leverage funds to expand its reach globally to a wider variety of location types and announced that it will give away 200,000 tampons and pads at all of its locations within the next year as part of a mission to make period care available for free.
