The University of Florida at Gainesville has installed over 200 Sony BRAVIA displays, including the BZ30 and BZ40 series, according to a case study shared with this publication.
The installed displays include sizes ranging from 32- to 100-inches, and the project has included the under-construction Honors Village, a housing facility for honors students, where 116 displays were installed in dorm rooms, common areas and meeting rooms.
The university also installed:
- 18 displays in and around the Student Health Center.
- 14 displays at the Traffic Signal Lab.
- 18 32-inch displays at the veterinary surgery teaching lab.
- 11 55- and 65-inch displays at the veterinary anatomy lab.
- 14 55-inch displays at the Dean of Students area.
The installations were overseen by Lon Vance, sr. engineer and project manager of audio visual systems for the University of Florida’s Audio Visual Systems and Academic Technology group.
“One of the main drivers to use a Sony display is the image processing, which is superior to any other display in the market right now and makes everything look better,” Vance said in the case study. “With Sony, the reds look like a red, and the details are prominent which is important to our areas that support the arts and architecture. Our pro BRAVIA displays provide a better image and better picture than other displays we’ve used, plus they’re easier to control.
“Additionally, the system on a chip, which we use for digital signage, is excellent and saves you the price of a PC,” Vance added. “We use NoviSign digital signage software which can be put right on the display. It’s easy — because the display is Android-based, you just download the app and you’re good to go.”
