“Left” is a word defined by the hard right. Anyone who’s to the left of them is a communist. Mainstream media has mindlessly played along with this idiotic and fundamentally wrong, simplistic, terminology.
So, let’s call it “Left” in case someone’s pitiful overstretched vocabulary gets a hernia.
The Left seems to have a problem with Gaza. According to a rather heartfelt argument in The New York Times, “left-wingers” are standing with Palestine, etc. Black Lives Matter are publishing pictures of people on hang gliders.
…So, thousands of dead and massacres are OK with someone, right?
Wrong.
Who the hell do you pretentious gerbils think you are to “approve” atrocities against anyone?
Doesn’t matter who gets killed, where or when.
It’s a crime against humanity.
That’s it.
Wherever you’re pretending to have been educated:
There is no “Left.” The media created this version of the “Left,” and it’s about as realistic and useful as you’d expect.
This is an absolute existential catastrophe for Palestinians, and you’re supporting it?
Any possibility of a Palestinian state is now well and truly dead, the first casualty of those massacres when a shot was fired.
These atrocities are the practical politics of the extreme right since forever.
Terrorists worldwide are sponsored by the rich and supported and enabled by organized crime and arms dealers. They don’t care about people, causes, or anything else. That’s not exactly a secret. You’re supporting that, too?

Then there’s good old medieval Anti-Semitism. It’s basic European peasant bigotry at work and getting paid millions for it. It’s a day job. This is the barnyard politics of 2000 years ago, now with very rich sponsors who’ve never done a damn thing for their own people.
Big Oil, the altruistic enemy of humanity, pays for Middle Eastern terrorism by anyone.
Right-wing media’s making a few bucks out of if too. So they can support more lunatics, perhaps? You’re in favor of that?
The Palestinians get the opportunity to hold rallies and get killed, and then return to generations of extreme poverty. Nobody has made the slightest effort to give them economic independence or standard of living or even mention these subjects. That’s been the story since 1947.
A lot of them worked in Israel for ten times the pay they’d get in Gaza. That’s over now, too. Good outcome, would you say? Hear any birds singing?
You’re misreading Israel as usual. The liberals and conservatives in Israel make the Democrats and Republicans look like childhood sweethearts who’ve been married for decades. This one move by Hamas has put them all on the same page, after 5000 years.
Israel is an external distraction to all the other horrors of the Middle East. Human rights may barely exist, but this is the bread and circuses.
You self-proclaimed “Left” didn’t say a word about the genocide in Darfur, or the Yemen wars, or anywhere else, but you’re all over this, are you? How quaint.
What I want to know is who decided they speak for the “Left” on these subjects. You’re getting as bad as the conservatives. Nothing but double standards and excuses.
Left of what? Fifth Avenue? Hollywood? Wendys? Not noticeably.
Progressivism is about humanity.
Forget races, religions, ethnicities, or any other superficial packaging.
People are people, rights are rights, and murder is murder. Is that clear enough even for you antique dogmatists?
If you want a world that’s fit to live in, shut up and do something useful.
