On August 5, actor Sean Kanan performed a “Comedy Dojo” show at The Comedy Chateau in North Hollywood, California.

Michael Maloney served as emcee of the show, and it featured such comedians as Marco Assante, and Mike Marino.

Background on Sean Kanan

He is known for playing the role of Deacon Sharpe on both “The Bold and The Beautiful” and “The Young and The Restless,” as well as Mike Barnes on “Karate Kid III” and “Cobra Kai”; moreover, he played AJ Quartermaine on “General Hospital.”

Kanan is an Emmy winner for “Outstanding Limited Series” for serving as a producer and co-creator of the digital series “Studio City.”

Dressed in black, Kanan revealed that he would be doing some “Comedy Dojo,” and he asked the audience if they were ready to have him as their sensei? “Thanks for coming out tonight,” Kanan said.

Kanan wanted the audience to forget their problems tonight, and instead to focus on having fun.

1989: A memorable year

He acknowledged that the year 1989 was a memorable one in history because that was the year that the Berlin Wall fell, as well as the year that the Internet was invented.

In addition, that was when Kanan made his debut as Mike Barnes in “Karate Kid III.” “Overall, 1989 was an amazing year,” he said. ‘I was surprised that ‘Karate Kid III’ made it through cancel culture back then,” he added.

“For me, to be a part of ‘Cobra Kai’ Season 5 was a dream come true,” Kanan admitted.

‘Dancing with the Stars’ in Italy

He shared that he was a contestant on “Dancing with the Stars” in Italy, and the irony behind that was that he doesn’t speak Italian nor does he dance.

One blended family

He poked fun at his wife and noted that they have a blended family of five kids (two of which are twin girls).

Kanan went on to describe his wife as “incredible, beautiful, and diabolical” all in one. He revealed that she comes from an Italian background and she is calm and cool yet she waits for the “perfect moment” to launch her way of getting even with him, and she always gets him back.

Thanks the daytime fans

Kanan expressed his gratitude for soap opera fans and praised them for being the “most committed” fans in the world. “Thank you for the support,” he told them.

The Verdict

Overall, Sean Kanan’s set at The Comedy Chateau was witty, clever, and fun. It is recommended that one sees him live when he comes to town.
