He discussed working with writer and director Brad Forenza on “Around the Sun.” “It was important in the sense there’s a need to be honest with oneself and Brad Forenza writes this way,” Funaro said.
“Alcohol addiction must be confessed out loud in order for healing to take place,” he admitted.
He noted that “Around the Sun” is a “compelling look at life with no veils attached.”
Future plans
On his plans for the future, he shared, “I plan to produce a film I have co-written with a partner and do more theater.”
He opened up about his daily motivations as an actor. “That ancient Greek question derived from their Amphitheaters… ‘How are we to live?’,” he said.
The digital age
On being an actor in the digital age, he said, “We are on strike now concerning A.I. Don’t take away the human element because that’s the best thing about us. Without the human struggle, there would be no drama. That is artificialized by A.I.”
Career-defining moments
Funaro shared some of his career-defining moments. “Season 3 of ‘The Sopranos’ was when I started professionally in TV and film. I knew nothing about the stress of a set and film life but the one thing I did do was stick with it and not quit.”
Success
On his definition of the word success, he responded, “Christ washing his disciples’ feet.”
